The Photo Contest “What If It Were You?” is a new challenge aimed exclusively at the Blue Schools of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. It is organized by the Madeira Regional Coordination of the Escola Azul programme, overseen by the Regional Directorate of Fisheries, and has the support of ARDITI, Promerch, Designer Iva Joana Freitas, and Horários do Funchal.
Schools are challenged to create impactful photos in which students portray animals that are victims of marine litter. Students will raise a cry for “Help” and show the consequences of some of our habits on marine life. The goal is to raise community awareness so that, now and in the future, the Ocean and its animals are respected.
The five best photos will be reproduced on advertising spaces on the buses of Horários do Funchal for a period of 3 months.
To participate, schools must send their photos in physical format by March 31, 2026, to the following address:

On the back of each photograph, proper identification must be included, stating the name of the school and the level of education. Submission of entries must also include a statement signed by the student’s parent confirming that they have read the Contest regulations and authorize the student’s participation.
