CIBIO - Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources from the University of Porto joins the Blue School PT network with a multidisciplinary educational project that involves some Blue Schools.
The project "Life on the Rocks: Hot and Cold " crosses Biology with Mathematics, Statistics and Informatics. Focusing on rocky beaches, the aim is to determine temperature patterns and understand their impact on algae and animals.
Together with a team of researchers, students develop a complete experience, from the experimental design to the installation of sensors in rocks, regular monitoring of the quantity of organisms and final analysis of the collected data.
The activities alternate between talks/debates in the classroom, field trips and sessions of computer data analysis.
