End Plastic Soup Portugal, in partnership with the Rotary Districts of Portugal (1960 and 1970), announces the new edition of "Plastic-Free Sea Week," taking place from November 2 to 9, 2026, under the theme "Together for a plastic-free ocean."
The campaign stems from a simple yet urgent realization: plastic is no longer just an environmental problem; it has also become a public health issue. Scientific studies have confirmed the presence of microplastics in the human body, with potential impacts on the brain, lungs, heart, digestive system, and reproductive system. "Small choices made today can ensure a healthier future for everyone"—this is the core message the campaign brings to thousands of children, families, and communities across the country.
Among the various planned initiatives, school presentations stand out; they invite children to become agents of change by taking on "transformation missions"—small, actionable steps that help reduce plastic use and protect the environment, whether it be the sea, rivers, forests, or any other surrounding ecosystem.
