The 6th edition of Plogging Challenge Portugal is coming soon, an initiative of Plogging de Santa Maria da Feira, which once again has the support of Escola Azul.
Between March 30 (International Zero Waste Day) and April 30, 2026, any school can organize a local walk to collect recyclable waste, thus joining the Plogging Challenge Portugal.

We challenge the Escola Azul network to participate in this initiative and register their plogging activity as part of the Plogging Challenge Portugal. To do so, they must complete the following form by March 15, 2026.
Registration Form (PT Only)
After carrying out the plogging action, each school must then record their results on a specific form to be made available later: number of kilometers covered, number of participants, number of bags with recyclable waste, etc.
Plogging is an outdoor sporting activity (usually jogging or walking) that includes waste collection and recycling. Plogging Challenge Portugal seeks to aggregate plogging actions carried out across Portugal into a nationwide initiative.
The challenge aims to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of walking outdoors and physical exercise in general as health promoters;
- Value recycling as a way of giving new life to the majority of waste: recyclable waste is a resource and should not be seen as trash;
- Promote interaction between participants and community members;
- Give renewed attention to local architectural heritage;
- Raise awareness about the value of Environmental Volunteering.
