Collaboration - EEA Grants - Support for Ocean Literacy Initatives

At the end of 2019, the Blue Growth programme of the EEA Grants opened a call for funding aimed at Ocean Literacy projects. Partnership with schools from the Blue School PT network was presented as a requirement in one of the pre-defined types of project.

With a maximum grant amount for each project of €25 000, this call was able to support 29 projects, 17 of which framed within Type 1 (requiring partnership with Blue Schools). Of the remaining 12 projects, another 4 also presented partnerships with Blue Schools.

It should also be noted that 13 projects are promoted by a partner entity of the Blue School programme, and many more were involved as partners in each project.

EEA Grants is a multiannual financial mechanism through which Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway provide financial support to member states of the European Union with the greatest deviations from the European average GDP per capita (which includes Portugal).

The Blue Growth programme of the EEA Grants has DGPM – Directorate-General for Maritime Policy as the Programme Operator and aims to increase value creation and sustainable growth in the Portuguese blue economy.
