Escola Azul once again joins forces with EMSA – European Maritime Safety Agency to launch the 2nd edition of the Contest “A Sea of Ideas”.
Aimed exclusively at Portuguese Blue Schools (1st grade to 6th grade), this competition challenges students to explore the question “If the Ocean Could Talk, What Story Would It Tell?”.
The goal is to raise awareness among younger generations about issues related to the Ocean, while looking for ideas and solutions for a better Ocean, in line with the suggested topics:
- Making the Ocean Safer: How can we make shipping safer and reduce the risk of accidents at sea?
- Making the Ocean Cleaner: What are the main sources of pollution in the Ocean and how to prevent them? What can be done to reduce the impacts of pollution caused by ships?
- Making the Ocean More Inclusive: How can we increase the participation of women and minorities in the maritime sector? How can education contribute to a more inclusive sector?
Schools are invited to create a work of art, in any format, physical or digital. Drawings, paintings, collages, photographs, sculptures, videos, among others, are accepted, as long as it is an original product and allows students to express their imagination!
On March 14th, we held an online session about the contest. Check it out below.
On June 3, in a ceremony at EMSA’s headquarters in Lisbon, the winners were announced and awarded. It was a fantastic session that certainly left a lasting impression on the many students who came to Lisbon to participate in this final moment.
Escola Azul congratulates all the participants and, in particular, the winning schools. And we also thank EMSA for bringing us on board this initiative.
